grandmother's dishes
Since I just moved in to a new place, my mom is loaning me my grandmother's dishes. These were her "everyday" dishes that she bought the year she was married (1939). I really like using them. They remind me of her impeccable sense of style. And it feels nice to redeem something from the attic — the dishes have sat unused in boxes for years, because they don't fare well in a dishwasher. But my place doesn't have a dishwasher, so we're set. What's shown above is just one place setting. These people knew how to set a table. There are so many dishes with each place setting that I am confused about what each dish is for (see notes). See More Cups and Dishes Pictures |
